iBus API
Israel's public transport data for your service
Stops, lines, timetables, live arrivals and official service alerts: the same data the iBus app shows, as JSON over HTTPS. A project gets a key after the iBus team reviews its application.
What you can get
Data most projects need
- Stopssearch, a stop, nearby stops, train stations
- Arrivals in real timethe next arrivals at a stop with their freshness
- Timetablesday timetables of a stop or a line
- Lines and routessearch, a line, its routes and shape
- Service alertsofficial messages of the Ministry of Transport
- Reference dataoperators, versions, the service day
- Service statehealth and the freshness rules
Only on request, with a reason
- Trip plannertrips from your departure point to your destination — heavy, on request
- Whole-network downloadsevery stop at once — heavy, on request
- Vehicle positionspositions without licence plates — on request
- Vehicle licence platesonly by a special decision of iBus
Heavy or sensitive data: iBus decides case by case. Licence plates are never given out by default.
How it works
- Read the documentation and the examples
- Send an application about your project
- iBus reviews it and may ask questions
- After approval, create a key for your server
- Make the first request with the key
- Track usage and limits in the developer cabinet
The rules in short
- The key lives on your server: never in a web page, an app package, a public repository or a URL.
- Send it only as
Authorization: Bearer <key>over HTTPS. - Use separate keys for testing and for production. A key can be rotated with an overlap of up to 24 hours.
- Limits belong to the project: all its keys share one budget per minute, day and month.
- You can restrict the project to your server's addresses (IPv4, IPv6, networks).
- Name the source: «Data: Israel's Ministry of Transport, via iBus».
Without a key, for now. Published operations still answer without a key, with limits per network, while existing integrations move to keys. The end of this period will be announced on this page in advance.
Your address as the server sees it
Useful before you list the addresses in your application. From the server that will call the API: curl https://api.ibusisrael.online/api/access/whoami
